On-Ice Helpers play an important role in supporting younger players during practices and skill sessions.
Working under the direction of the Head Coach, On-Ice Helpers assist with station setup, player supervision, skill development activities, and creating a positive learning environment for players.
No coaching experience is required, and many parents find this is a great way to become involved in their child's hockey experience.
On-Ice Helpers support the coaching staff by:
Assisting with practice setup and station organization
Helping supervise players during practices
Supporting drills and activities as directed by the Head Coach
Encouraging players and helping create a positive learning environment
Communicating player development concerns or observations to the Head Coach
On-Ice Helpers work under the direction of the Head Coach and are there to support player development and practice operations.
On-Ice Helpers are not considered bench staff and are not permitted on the bench during games unless they are properly rostered in another approved team official role.
At a minimum, On-Ice Helpers are required to complete:
Required for all On-Ice Helpers.
Certification is valid for five (5) years.
Required for all On-Ice Helpers working directly with players.
Certification is valid for three (3) years.
