REGISTRATION INFORMATION 2020-21
Our kids are eager to return to playing the game they love! We have been working diligently with Strathcona Gardens, VIAHA, BC Hockey and Hockey Canada to ensure our members can return to play in a safe and responsible manner and that we meet the guidelines of the Provincial Health Officer, Island Health Authority, and WorkSafeBC.
In addition, Arena #2 will be undergoing repairs and will be unavailable until at least mid-November. This has reduced the available ice time to CRMHA substantially. This has required flexibility in programming at all levels.
Getting hockey "up and running" will be different in September and we appreciate your patience while we continue to plan accordingly to ensure we can get back out on the ice in some capacity.
We are happy to announce that we are now opening registration for the 2020-21 season!! We will be implementing a Return to Hockey Plan and will start in September in “Phase 2.” The Strathcona Regional District guidelines of Phase 2 are listed below. We will be abiding by the various restrictions of Phase 2 in order to ensure the safety and well being of our members. Phase 2 will be in place for as long as it is required. The program for Phase 2 will allow for our hockey players to get back out onto the ice and focus on athlete skill development. Contact / competitive sports and organized games are not permitted at this time.
More information about the different Phases can be found here.
TYEES
We will be delaying all Rep Tryouts for our Tyees teams until we move from Phase 2 to Phase 3. The registration process will include a form for players to submit an intent to play for Tyee team for the 2020-2021 season. We encourage you to indicate your intent should we be able to move into Phase 3 in the future. Rep Tryout Fees and Rep Fees will not be applicable until Phase 3.
HURRICANES
We will be delaying all Hurricane teams until we move from Phase 2 to Phase 3. The registration process will include a form for players to submit an intent to play for a Hurricane team for the 2020-2021 season. We encourage you to indicate your intent should we be able to move into the Phase 3 in the future. Female Development Hurricane Fees will not be applicable to until Phase 3.
NEW MEMBERS (If you have never registered with any Minor Hockey Program)
In an ongoing effort to foster a safe and enjoyable environment for our athletes in this great game, Vancouver Island Amateur Hockey Association (VIAHA) has implemented the Respect in Sport (RIS) program. At least one parent or guardian of each player registered in minor hockey on Vancouver Island must complete the online RIS Parent Program prior to registration.
Once you have completed the course and received your certificate number, you will be able to access online registration.
TRANSFERS FROM ANOTHER ASSOCIATION
Players transferring from another association resulting from a move into the Campbell River MHA area must complete a transfer package before being allowed to register with CRMHA, in accordance with VIAHA residency qualification guidelines. Please note that all transfers must be approved through VIAHA and BCH. Transfer packages are available online here, and by emailing the CRMHA office at info@crmha.ca.
Please email the CRMHA Office with your documents and completed transfer application to info@crmha.ca. Once you transfer application has been processed and approved by BC Hockey and VIAHA you will be able to access online registration.
REGISTRATION FEES
Due to the various unknowns of what our actual hockey season will consist of, and the loss of Arena #2 for a few months, the executive has made the decision to lower registration fees for this season. While we are optimistic, and our goal is for players to have just as many ice time opportunities as previous years, there are restrictions beyond our control, and the ice time will be different than in the past while we are in Phase 2.
The regular season registration hockey fees will not change should we be able to move into Phase 3, however there will be fees associated with the Hurricane and Tyee Programs should they proceed.
Due to the limited number of people allowed in Strathcona Gardens at one time, there will be no access to the CRMHA office and registration this season will be online only. Assistance can be provided by emailing info@crmha.ca

VOLUNTEERS
Making the 20/21 season a success will require a lot of optimism, cooperation, flexibility, and support. We will require an increased number of volunteers to help on and off the ice. In addition to volunteer positions in prior years, we will now require parent volunteers to implement the COVID-19 safety procedures, including Session Ambassadors to sign people in and out of the rink. These volunteers are required to host each session. We request that you indicate your intent to help out in this regard on your child’s registration.
