CRMHA TYEES

U11 Dev Tyees Info

U11 Development is your players' first step into competitive hockey. What that means is a higher level of commitment to practice, games and travel but with a focus on player development. These teams have been created to provide a necessary base for our Representative program and to provide an opportunity for the more skilled U11 players to play a more competitive level of hockey.

The U11 Tyees will each participate in the VIAHA Island League and will attend 2-3 out of town tournaments. U11 Development Tyees will have typically 2 practices and 1 game (3-4 hours) of on-ice time a week - with the emphasis on player skill development and age-appropriate tactics.

The U11 Development teams (although not Representative team) will adhere to Representative Team policies set in place by CRMHA.

Try Outs: All players-in-good-standing registered in U11 wishing to participate in the tryout process, are required to pay a non-refundable tryout fee payable at the time of registration.  We must remember that Rep/Dev tryouts are a stressful time not only for the players and parents but also for the coaches and volunteers who each year must co-ordinate this facet of the CRMHA program. Please be patient, understanding and respectful of the process.

The maximum number of players on a U11 Development team is nineteen (19). The maximum number of players permitted in a game is seventeen (17) skaters and two (2) goaltenders.

The top 30 players will be picked to roster the A and B U11 Development teams providing  a Head Coach is available for both teams. If the criteria (Policies and Procedures 6.1.1) are not met, only one team will be selected.

Finances: Rep/Development hockey may be an expensive proposition for parents and players who must consider this before applying to play on a Rep team. There are additional expenses for travel, additional game and practice ice, tournaments, possible non-parent coaches, and miscellaneous expenses as well as apparel requirements to satisfy the CRMHA dress code. Additional association and team fees will apply to players selected to roster on a Tyee Team.

U11 Development teams will be allowed to fundraise due to their higher costs and must observe CRMHA policies with respect to sponsorship, fundraising and financial practices. It is the expectation of all teams and specifically all team staff, that every effort shall be made to act in a fiscally responsible manner. Unnecessary expenses will be avoided. The team budget will be approved and monitored by the CRMHA Executive.

Expectations: CRMHA expects that all Rep coaches, team officials, players and parents will set a high standard of conduct and good sportsmanship towards Referees, other players, team officials and parents. This not only applies to your own team but to all teams within the CRMHA and other associations with whom you have contact.

We have greatly benefited from extraordinary coaching.  Our Association employs a skills coach who works with all Tyee teams.

There is a lot more to hockey than winning. Tyee Hockey is a proud program that promotes a team first culture.  The roots are strong, we have many coaches who were one-time players now giving back as coaches.
